In recent news Georgie Clarke's work has been exhibited as part of the 1951 - 2011 Festival of Britain on the Southbank, London. The Southbank Centre was celebrating the 60th anniversary of the original 1951 festival and as part of the 'Power and Production' area of the festival Georgie was commissioned by the Black Country Atelier to do a series of portraits of the makers and inventors of Britain. From somewhat eccentric inventors to rocket engineers, it was a glimpse of just some of the ingenuity still going on behind the doors of our suburban industrial estates and garden workshops.
The 10 images were suspended from a gantry on the first floor walkway of the Southbank Centre just off Waterloo bridge on the outside wall of the Hayward Gallery. A further series of industrial landscapes were also fly postered on 30ft section of wall directly below the walk way on Belveder Road. The Festival ran for four months and recieved over 2.8million visitors.
